The Person Behind the Reviews
Bernard GuidoMaster Tradesman · Software Entrepreneur · Founder
I spent 25+ years running trade businesses — from a master tradesman operation in Munich to leading an IT company in Tunisia that built CRM and dispatch software from the ground up. I know what works in the field because I've been the contractor, the dispatcher, and the developer building the tool they all complained about.
ContractorHQ exists because "best software" lists are almost always written by tech journalists on free trials. I built this site for contractors who need an evaluation from someone with 25 years of operational context — and the scar tissue to prove it.

25 Years in the Trades
From laying the first tile to writing the first line of code — here's what shaped the opinions behind every review on this site.
Master Tradesman — Munich
Certified master in stove building (Ofensetzer/Ofenbauer), running my own trade business in Munich. First direct experience with the daily chaos of job scheduling, invoicing and crew management — all on paper.
Trade Operations & Dispatch — Multiple Companies
Built and led operations for trade businesses across all trades: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, general contracting. Managed dispatch, CRM and order management for hundreds of contractors per month. Saw every software failure up close.
IT Company Founder — Tunisia
Founded and led a software development company in Tunisia with a team of 20+ engineers. Our sole focus: building CRM systems and field service apps for trade businesses, from first wireframe to production deployment. We iterated for years until the software actually held up under real field conditions — late-night emergency dispatches, multi-crew coordination, flat-rate billing accuracy. This is where the perfectionism was forged: we never shipped until it was right, regardless of how long it took.
ContractorHQ — Global Software Comparison
After 25+ years running trade businesses and building software for them, I launched Tanduu as the comparison hub I always wished existed. No vendor bias. No paid rankings. Just honest analysis from someone who has actually used this software in the field.
The System Behind the Opinion
Before reviewing a single piece of software, I ran a live dispatch operation across Germany. The screenshots below are from the CRM I built and operated — not a demo, not a prototype. Real jobs, real partners, real commissions tracked.

Job Category Analytics
380+ orders tracked in a single category. Granular breakdown by job type, partner, zip code and revenue — built from scratch.

Multi-City Dispatch Tracking
City-level performance data across hundreds of locations in Germany. This is what real dispatch management looks like at scale.

Partner Commission Engine
Automated partner commission calculation, invoice generation and cashbook — built to handle thousands of transactions without manual intervention.
1,000+
Jobs dispatched
100+
Cities tracked
50+

0

The Review Standard
A perfectionist who won't ship until the field test passes.
UI and UX come before technology. That was the founding principle of my IT company in Tunisia, and it's the standard I apply to every review on this site. A beautiful dashboard that breaks when a tech types with muddy gloves, or an invoice flow that requires 12 taps in a parking lot — those are failures, regardless of the feature count.
This is why the reviews here go deeper than specs and pricing. I evaluate software against the actual failure modes: Can it handle offline dispatch without data loss? Does the pricebook cover flat-rate trades billing or only T&M? What happens when you reschedule 15 jobs in under an hour because the weather changed?
Offline reliability
Tested in basements, tunnels and rural sites with no signal
Fat-finger UI test
Every screen evaluated for gloved hand operation in the field
Dispatch latency
How fast can you reschedule 10 jobs simultaneously under pressure?
Pricebook depth
Does it have flat-rate codes for your specific trade, or just hourly?
Billing accuracy
Commission splits, partner invoicing — tested against real multi-party scenarios
Why I Built ContractorHQ

Bernard Guido
Munich · Tunis · Nairobi
In 2018, I was evaluating software for a client — a mid-sized HVAC company in Munich. I spent three days reading reviews on G2, Capterra and a dozen "best of" lists. Every single one recommended the same tools in the same order. None of them mentioned that one of the top-ranked tools had been raising prices aggressively for two years straight. None mentioned that the mobile app was essentially broken for Android users.
That's the problem. The people writing these reviews have never dispatched an emergency call at midnight. They've never had a tech call in sick and needed to reassign 8 jobs before 7am. They don't know what "offline mode" really means when your plumber is in a basement with no signal.
I've built CRM systems for trade companies. I've run IT teams in Tunisia that developed field service apps from scratch. I've been on both sides — the contractor frustrated with bad software, and the developer trying to build something better.
ContractorHQ is the comparison hub I always wanted to exist. No vendor money, no sponsored rankings, no fluff. Just honest analysis from someone who has 25 years of scars to back it up.
Our Editorial Standards
How we keep reviews honest and rankings trustworthy.
No Paid Rankings
Software is never ranked higher because they pay us. Rankings are based purely on feature depth, pricing fairness and real contractor feedback.
Affiliate Transparency
We earn a commission when you buy software through our links — at no extra cost to you. We disclose this on every page. Our affiliate relationships never influence rankings.
Monthly Fact-Checks
Pricing, features and availability are verified monthly. Software that changes its terms gets flagged immediately.
The Contractor's Verdict
Every review includes Bernard's personal assessment — not generated text. It reflects real operational experience with how these tools work in the field.
